Whale and Penguins in Trelew/ Ballenas y Pinguinos en Trelew

If you love whales, this is the place to go to watch them without waiting hours before seeing one. We were on the boat for an hour and saw at least three different pairs of mama whales and their calves. These whales are southern wright wales and go to this area of Argentina b/c the water is located in a bay area and is free from any predators. Mothers go to Trelew every year to have their calves and the number of whales migrating to Trelew has been increasing in the past five years. We were told that the mother and calf stay in this area for a year before heading to the big open waters.

The first two pictures are of the mama whale, I think. The white whale in the last picture is a baby albino calf! This baby whale was so curious it came so close to our boat and almost touched the boat with its snout! it was incredible! I felt a little sea sick towards the end, but it was well worth feeling that way to have the opportunity to see these whales!

Penguin pictures will be next. promise.
