So, another week has passed. Last week flew by and this week is gonna be a short one, too. May 1st is a national holiday for Bolivia. It is Dia del Trabajo and boy do I need this one (j/k)! Luckily for me I've made plans to take advantage of this little holiday to visit another volunteer and help her with her baking club and teach the kids how to manage their cash box properly when they sell on the weekends and teach them how to find a good price for their cookies, cakes, and other baked goodies. Not only am I excited about teaching the kids, I'm excited about eating their tasty treats!!! (ha!)

This is completely random, sorta, but for those of you that don't know, I work for an orphanage that is funded completely by donations from the states. 50% of the donations are from churches all around USA. One of those churches happens to be located in Nashville, TN!!! Crazy, huh?

Before I decided to work with Peace Corps, I was suggested to work with mission trips and do volunteer work through the church instead. I was sorta turned off at first b/c I didn't want to have the obligation to push religion onto people of third world countries. However, after working with this organization that is Catholic affiliated, I've noticed how religion is a great form of creating a firm sense of organization, hope for the future, and I hate to say it, formality.

My last two years of college I put religion on the back burner, not turning away from God, just sorta not paying attention to Him or giving Him enough credit. They say God works in mysterious ways, but He's totally a comedian and likes to get us to laugh at ourselves in the most perfect times in our lives. This has happened a lot to me since I've been here working with Villa Amistad. I laugh when I think I had to come all they way down to Bolivia to see how funny and enjoyable my life is whenever I let myself here the jokes He is saying to me.

I appreciate all the prayers that are said for me everyday, and I want everyone to know that I'm secretly thanking God all the time for the people in my life, especially those of you reading this entry! Please pray for my safe journey to and from my friend's site (more specifically, NO RAIN!!). It's a seven hour bus ride on a really curvy mountainside dirt road and I admitt, I'm a bit scared.
