The majority of you know the name of my town. I sent a mass email not too long ago. For safety reasons I’m not going to post the name of my town, but I will let you see pics of what it looks like! (how much safer this idea is, I’m not so sure about) If you don’t know the name of my town and want to, just leave a comment or email me and I’ll email you the info! One is of me on the hilltop that separates the granjas/haciendas (farmlands) from the city areas. The other pics are of the granjas and of the city-like part of town. I really like it here. It’s super tranquillo (really calm) as many citizens would describe it and I like it that way. There’s just enough commotion to keep it from being a ghost town
I haven’t really done my part in integrating with the town, yet. I plan on visiting the Alcaldia ( mayor’s office) as soon as I pick up some helpful brochures (written in Spanish) that better explain my purpose as a Peace Corps volunteer, PCV. I’m hoping that my little meeting will help the community get to know me better and also get them thinking about what it is they want improving.
Already a person has come up to me asking if I can help build some letrinas (latrines) for his community. Thankfully, my APCD (my boss for my project) was there and he explained to the kind man that I wasn’t trained in building latrines or organizing a project of that sort, but he could contact the APCD in charge of the basic sanitation project and set up a meeting with him! And that if there were any other q’s he had about Peace Corps he could always contact me, or the Peace Corps headquarters in Cochabamba.
