Salmon Fishing

On August 18th I caught my first ever wild salmon. Thanks to the Howard family, I was invited to hop on their boat and do some fishing. I was exhausted! We woke up at 4AM-ish to get to the dock by 5AM and "drove" off into the sea to find us some fish.

I never knew how difficult fishing for salmon would be and I have a new and improved understanding of why salmon cost the amount it does. It took us about eight hours to catch us about 12 fish. Each fish weighing an average of 10 lbs each. Apparently, that day was a slow day and we happen to be the lucky boat that caught one of the highest quantities of fish.

Here are a few pictures of our bounty.

The Howards were so very kind and very smart to take our fish to the nearby fish cleaning joint where our bounty was cleaned, gutted, fillet-ed, vacuum packed, and frozen for us to travel home with! I have a freezer full of salmon so if any of you have any tasty recipes, please let me know.
